Decommissioning and storage
- Bring it to standby with a normal shutdown.
- Switch power control off and confirm the current drops to 0 A.
- Keep electrolyte control on briefly to cool down.
- Switch electrolyte control off and let it cool toward ambient.
- Power it down completely.
- Switch the main power off and unplug the power cord.
- Confirm the hydrogen and oxygen pressures have come down to ambient through the normal vent paths.
- Drain the electrolyte.
- Put on chemical PPE and prepare compatible containers.
- Connect a drain hose to the DRAIN port, route it into the container, open the path slowly and drain until flow stops.
- Disconnect the hose carefully and cap the port again.
- Disconnect the tubing.
- Never loosen a fitting to vent gas. Disconnect only after shutdown, depressurisation and draining are done.
- Cap each port as you go, to keep dirt and moisture out and residual liquid in.
- Finish with a visual check around the front-panel ports and fittings for leakage and unusual smell.
Disposal
- Drained electrolyte is strongly alkaline waste. Never pour it into a drain or storm water; label the container with contents and concentration and hand it to a licensed waste contractor.
- Treat rags and gloves used on electrolyte as the same waste.
- Contact us before disposing of the unit or the stack. We will advise how to handle the stack and electrodes.
After disconnection
Check that the power cord is disconnected, disconnected ports are capped, and no leakage is visible around ports and fittings. Residual liquid remains, so prevent freezing in storage.
